Fox Renews ‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ And ‘The Last Man On Earth’

A pair of critically acclaimed comedies have been given some cheery renewal news by Fox. (No, Woops! isn’t coming back. Give it up.) Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Last Man on Earth are both returning next season which should give you an opportunity to celebrate in a dignified fashion in the style of Captain Holt.

At the moment, Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Last Man on Earth rank as the only live-action comedies that have been renewed by Fox. If you’re waiting for a verdict on The Grinder or Grandfathered, you’ll have to tough it out for a little longer. Ditto New Girl, although you can probably guess the fate that awaits freshman offering Cooper Barrett’s Guide to Surviving Life.

The decision to bring back Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Last Man on Earth was trumpeted by the network.

“We’re so proud of these comedies. Each has its own unique voice, but they both boast terrific ensembles with stand-out characters and, of course, phenomenal writing, which are the hallmarks of all great comedies,” said Fox entertainment president David Madden. “We’d like to thank the executive producers, casts and crews of ‘Brooklyn nine-Nine’ and ‘The Last Man on Earth’ for their tremendous work this season, and look forward to what’s in store next year.”

If you’ve been keeping score at home, you already know that Fox has a few other shows already locked in for the future. Empire will enjoy a third season, Scream Queens is a go for a sophomore run, Bones has a farewell tour on the horizon and Gotham will continue to ignite brawls among Batman enthusiasts with its third go-around.
