Here’s All The TV And Films Coming To Netflix In July, Including ‘Stranger Things’

There’s certainly some solid entries being added to Netflix‘s streaming catalog in the month of July, with Dreamcatcher definitely going in my queue as quickly as possible. Back to the Future and Beverly Hills Cop will get you in touch with the ’80s you, and a new special from Jim Jefferies is sure to make you giggle. (If you haven’t done so, try and catch more of Jefferies work on Netflix because it’s all pretty hilarious.) But, of course, watching that is all contingent on whether or not you get through your binge of BoJack Horseman.

Here’s what you should be watching this July on Netflix.

Blade 2 (7/1)

Let’s get this out of the way right now: Blade 2 is the best blade and I don’t care if you like Stephen Dorff. As I was saying… Guillermo del Toro put his signature touch on the movie monsters here with new vampires for Blade to slay and no Triple H getting in the way like in the third film. While Blade introduced us to the Daywalker, Blade 2 took the hero to new heights with better special effects and tons of scintillating battles. And, any time you can get more Ron Perlman, that’s a good thing.

Stranger Things: Season 1 (7/15)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWxyRG_tckY

Take a dash of ’80s Steven Spielberg, a sprinkle of contemporary J.J. Abrams, some mystery, and add a Winona Ryder for taste: You’ll have something that resembles Stranger Things. The Netflix original series follows the mystery that follows the disappearance of a young boy. Is it aliens? Time travel? The Duffer Brothers (Wayward Pines) are at the helm for this one, with Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum) directing two episodes. Count me in.

Big Trouble in Little China (7/1)

I’ll take any opportunity I can to say how magnificent Big Trouble in Little China is. This is peak John Carpenter we’re talking here with peak ’80s music, and peak Kurt Russell’s glorious hair. Kim Cattrall is great, as are the monster effects, and it’s just a wacky, ridiculous, “shouldn’t work on paper” kind of film. Any time I’m depressed I think of a world where this kind of insane movie can get made and I smile.
