The CW’s upcoming spin-off of their two DC Comics shows has, at this point, a nerd’s dream of a cast. You’ve got the Atom, Firestorm, Captain Cold, Heat Wave, and probably Black Canary, even if nobody will admit it. And they just keep adding characters, as two more, and somewhat unexpected, characters enter the mix.

The first is one I’ve got to admit I never thought was going to happen, but newcomer Ciara Renee has been cast as Hawkgirl, according to Deadline. This is the Kendra Saunders version of the character, although she’ll probably come with a new backstory because Hawkgirl one is almost absurdly convoluted, even by comic book standards. Also, it continues the tradition of DC Comics shows featuring actors with some serious pipes:

The second role is time traveler Rip Hunter, played by Doctor Who‘s Arthur Darvill, also according to Deadline. That said, everybody who thought it was Booster Gold was at least on the right track. Hunter is described as a “a roguish time traveler who hides the strains of being responsible for history itself behind a facade of charm and wit,” which is pretty much Booster in the current comics.

It’s intriguing because recent episodes of The Flash have been dealing with time travel and Barry screwing up the timeline, so we might be seeing Rip Hunter sooner rather than later, especially if the Reverse Flash starts trying to change history to save his own neck. Either way, this spin-off is getting more and more interesting… even if they still won’t tell us the title.
