A Local Fox Station Has Apologized After Misidentifying President Obama As A Rape Suspect

San Diego’s Fox 5 had a little mix-up last week when reporting on a sex assault at SDSU, claiming that the suspect would not be charged. Which is all well and good, except for at the time the station broadcast a picture of President Obama with the caption “NO CHARGES” underneath. The broadcast went on without any mention of the mistake, however, the Times of San Diego is holding them ACCOUNTABLE FOR THAT SH*T.

The Obama shot lasted about 5 seconds, but it was noticed immediately in the newsroom, said Mike Wille, an assignment editor. “Yeah, there was an accident when they had an over-the-shoulder” display, Wille told Times of San Diego. “It wasn’t on purpose.”

Asked why there was no immediate on-air acknowledgment or apology for the error, Wille said: “They really don’t do that when it’s a small thing like that.”

Oh, you know. Just a teensy slip-up like identifying the president of our country as a suspected rapist (although he’s probably been called worse by Fox News at some point). I would like to know what constitutes a “big thing” for San Diego’s Fox 5. At any rate, once the station manager caught wind, an apology was finally issued on last night’s news report, as you can see in the above video. Everybody can just relax now because President Obama definitely isn’t a suspected rapist.
