Your team allegiances are set by now and you may have even decided what dip you’re bringing to the party next weekend, but there is still some mystery left. No, I’m not talking about who will actually win. I’m talking about who will have the best commercials.
Because teaser culture is the natural extension of our obsession with instant gratification, we’re now getting previews for commercial. In this sneak peek, Amazon creates a low-stakes version of Black Mirror that asks “what would happen if Alexa lost her voice?” Recruiting Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to play himself in the ad, the team behind the scenes is ready to spring into action after the worst happens.
Now, what would really happen if Alexa lost her voice? Well, you would have to actually look things up on your phone and you wouldn’t be able to conjure weather stats seemingly out of thin air. But where is the sense of fun in that? We’ll have to wait and see how the final ad stacks up against the competition, but I don’t see any charming Clydesdales showing up, so they’ve got some ground to cover if they want to be the best.
