'Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag' Trailer Totally Harpoons Our Whale

“Split your lungs with blood and thunder when you see the white whale.”

This morning, Ubisoft officially announced Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, and we have the first trailer and teaser for it. We already knew from a leaked poster that the game would be set on the high seas, which is awesome because we need more pirate games. The trailer below is narrated by Edward “Blackbeard” Teach, who wants us to know that Captain Edward Kenway is not to be trifled with. At least that’s what I think he was saying. I was distracted by his f’d up teeth.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is set in the early 1700s and follows the story of Edward Kenway, the grandfather of Conner Kenway of Assassin’s Creed III. The game promises improved naval battles and open-world exploration and combat. Kenway can even dive underwater to explore, or just stay on the ship and harpoon whales. (White whale! Holy grail!) There are also jungle and city environments in Havana, Nassau, and Kingston to explore.

The PlayStation Blog says Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag will release on PS3 this October 31st. They’ll announce release date for the PS4 version later. The game is also coming to XBox 360, Wii U, and PC. We’re hoping it’s rated ARRRRR and also that we get hit in the face with a pie for that joke.
