‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ Set Video Shows How Much Work Goes Into Just One Shot

One truth of filmmaking, whether you’re shooting a tiny indie movie or a massive blockbuster, is that it takes a lot of time and even more work to pull things off just right. This behind-the-scenes footage from Avengers: Age Of Ultron shows just how much.

Oddly, this video has actually been around since March, but has only started getting some traction now. Either way, it’s still some pretty interesting stuff, not least because it shows just how much work goes into making a location seem like it’s utterly destroyed. Crewmembers shuffle around cars with forklifts and wreckers, spray dust so that it lands just right, carefully arrange and space extras, and hide special effects, like the bumpin’ minivans at the 9:17 mark. In all, a team of dozens of people probably spent more than the cost of a house and almost a whole day for a shot that will probably be in the movie for less than thirty seconds.

Honestly, though, we’re mostly curious what they do with those minivans in their off-hours. Put a racy recording on the stereo, fire up the hydraulics, and hide a camera, and you’ve probably got hours of amusement.
