A couple after Ted Cruz’s own heart spent their wedding night in the most romantic way imaginable: copying the Chinese Communist Party constitution by hand.

Li Yunpeng and Chen Xuan — who are both employees of the Nanchang Railway Bureau that initially posted the story — claim they spent the night of their nuptials copying down the 15,000-character document. Photos that were shared along with the post show the couple copying the constitution with honeymoon suite decorations in the foreground.

The photos were part of an education program that was started earlier this year by the Chinese government. They encouraged all people to copy sections of the constitution for 100 days. The Nanchang Railway Bureau asked all of their employees to participate and shared outstanding examples on their website.

However, there are plenty of people out there who think that the whole thing is a staged stunt. A post by the Phoenix Chinese News points out that the bride is wearing red nail polish in some pictures but not in others. In several of the photos, the groom is wearing a watch even though the clearest shot of the two shows that he isn’t wearing a watch.

Chinese governmental organizations distorting the truth? Why, I never!
