Dennis Rodman: The Unlikeliest Ally To King Jong-un, North Korea

The list of Americans who have met North Korean dictator Kim Jong-un begins and ends with Dennis Rodman, a documentary crew, and various members of the Harlem Globetrotters. As a part of a documentary put together by New York-based Vice Media, the eclectic crew was not only granted entry into the reclusive country, but also wined and dined by the basketball-loving Kim. Details can be read here, but to really appreciate this oddity of an event, one must listen to Rodman’s first-hand account given to ABC’s George Stephanopoulos on This Week.

“He loves basketball. … I said Obama loves basketball. Let’s start there… He asked me to give Obama something to say and do one thing. He wants Obama to do one thing, call him.”

Some stories are too weird to be a smartass about. Seriously, consider all of the random parties involved: Dennis freaking Rodman! The Harlem Globetrotters! The most combustable country on the planet! If The Worm is going to be the bridge that connects North Korea with the rest of the world, more power to him. I’m sure there have been odder stories to surface since the calendar turned. I just can’t think of any right now.
