This Former Model Has Spent $100,000 To Look Like ‘Curvy Barbie’

Once upon a time Jennifer Pamplona was a Versace model, but the 24-year-old, who hails from Sao Paulo, Brazil, has left her dreams of the runway behind. Why? Pretty simple, really: She’s spending all her time and money — $100,000 — on turning herself into a ‘curvy Barbie.’ If that’s not weird enough for you, here’s another fun tidbit: Pamplona’s transformation is a tribute to a former boyfriend, who died of cancer in 2015.

Why would someone want their girlfriend to look more like Barbie? According to The Daily Mail, Pamplona’s boyfriend, Celso Santebanes, was known as a “human Ken doll” when he was alive and had fantasies of turning Pamplona into the playmate of his dreams. After he died, Pamplona was so choked with grief that she couldn’t think of any other way to honor him than to undergo so many surgical procedures that even her own mother has trouble recognizing her.

Here’s everything Pamplona’s had done: breast implants (her first surgery; she got them to heal from bullying about her skinny frame), liposuction, rhinoplasty, fat injections into her butt and thighs (she wants to go bigger than Kim K), cheek and lip fillers, veneers, and, to top it all off, she’s had four ribs removed so she can enjoy a smaller waist.

Here’s what Pamplona told The Daily Mail about her obsession with making herself over:

‘I was invited to change my body on a TV show shortly after he died and I chose to continue his dreams of turning me into a curvy Barbie doll for him.

‘I found that plastic surgery took me out of depression, whenever I had something done I became so happy and everything became perfect.’

And:

She said: ‘I looked so different after my surgeries, when my mother and grandmother saw me they didn’t recognize me – it was really shocking for them but to me, I was perfect.

She added: ‘So many people in the world need to feel great and confident about themselves through surgery, I realized my dreams this way and don’t see why people view surgery in a bad way.”

Pamplona isn’t done transforming her appearance yet. She’s working on making her nose look “more fake” and is also set to appear on a new reality show which will be a little like Big Brother, except for the fact that the entire cast will be made up of people who have had a lot of plastic surgery.

Here’s hoping Pamplona’s dreams of fame and fortune come true. Whether that’s the healthiest dream to pursue is part of a bigger conversation.
