An Ambitious Kid With Dreams Of Being A Space Reporter Got An Inspiring Message From NASA

Humans of New York is a site that captures pictures of regular folks on the streets of the Big Apple and allows them to tell stories or talk about their lives. Often those stories are inspiring, sometimes they’re sad, but they’re usually a nice break from the shallow, divisive stuff that makes up the majority of the Internet.

Recently, one of HONY’s photographers ran across a dad and his young son (we don’t know their identities, as HONY doesn’t provide names with their pictures). The son said he wants to be a reporter like his dad when he grows up. Specifically, he wants to report on NASA and their space launches because, duh, if you had a choice, wouldn’t you report on rocket ships, too?

As is often the case, the HONY post received a lot of encouraging feedback, but one of the responses stood out among the pack

Yeah, that’s right, this kid not only got NASA’s attention, but he got himself a scoop! So yeah, if you start feeling down about the state of the Internet and social media today (and how can you not), just remind yourself that we live in an era where a bright-eyed child can mention something random about wanting to be a space reporter, and get an encouraging message from NASA the very same day. That balances out a lot of trolling.
