Let’s Talk About Tonight’s Geeky TV: ‘Constantine’ And Christmas Creep

It’s Halloween, so in addition to NBC’s Friday night genre block, there’s a whole bunch of movies and other fun horror treats for people staying in and waiting for kids to mug them for candy, right.

8pm

Silence Of The Lambs, BBC: It’s not Hannibal, but we’ll take what we can get. The movie Hannibal runs right after, by the way.

Men In Black 3, FX: Ah, so FX has chosen “trick.”

The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part 1, FXX: FXX is, for some reason, marathoning the Twilight movies today. We’ll remind you this is a channel controlled by the huge media conglomerate that owns the Aliens franchise.

Ghost Adventures, Travel: Starting at 8, Travel’s running three new episodes of this show, which is basically three men freaking each other out in the dark. So, basically, it’s visiting a haunted house for people who don’t go outside.

A Princess For Christmas, Hallmark Channel: We bring this up not because geeks might be interested, but Hallmark shouldn’t be able to get away with this without somebody calling them out for it. We get it, guys, glurge is your entire reason for being, but do you have to try to breach this particular front in the Christmas Creep wars? With two Christmas movies, since “Hitched For The Holidays” [insert vomit GIF here] runs right after?

Flowers In The Attic, Lifetime: I’m sorry, there’s horrific and then there’s just gross, and boning your sibling is just gross.

Night of the Living Dead, TCM: And as usual this week, TCM’s the only network with their schedule together. Why doesn’t this channel have a streaming app? I’d pay five bucks a month to watch TCM at random.

9pm

Grimm, NBC: Give NBC this, it sticks by its shows. Grimm is pretty much a cult show, but NBC has been nurturing it and it’s been rising steadily in the rankings. This week’s episode is called Octopus Head, but sadly seems to be an amnesia story instead of a dude with tentacles on his face.

Gotham, Fox: This is a rerun, because it’s not like Fox has anything else to show on Fridays.

Halloween 4: The Return Of Michael Myers, AMC: The Thing is on Telemundo, if you’re reduced to this I might recommend that instead.

Shaun Of The Dead, Comedy Central: You’ve got some red on ya.

The Conjuring, HBO2: I actually like this movie, but whenever I see it, I can’t help but wonder when Lumberg is going to step out of a closet and ask Peter to come in this weekend.

10pm

Constantine, NBC: The pilot was a bit rough around the edges, although the cast is pretty good bar the woman they fired when they went to series. This is really when the show proper starts, and we’ll be curious to see where it goes.

The Omen, Cinemax: This is the remake, not the original, so plan accordingly.

Lizzie Borden Took An Ax, Lifetime: I live relatively close to the city where these murders happened, and they’re almost proud of them. Which is weird, since you’d think being the site of a bloody mass murder and a subsequently miserably botched trial that ended in a complete failure to find and convict whoever did it would be seen as a bit of a bad thing.

Z Nation, Syfy: This episode is titled “Zunami.” It is exactly what it sounds like.

Curse Of The Demon, TCM: Look up Night Of The Demon instead, the British version of this movie. It’s got more footage and is more of a fun slow burn.

Remember, I’ll be checking in throughout the night, and probably sharing a few thoughts on Constantine. Chime in and let us know what you’re watching!
