Relax, USC Fans, Marqise Lee’s Shoulder Injury Isn’t Serious

The reigning Pac-12 offensive player of the year and Biletnikoff Award recipient, Marqise Lee, suffered a bone bruise causing him to sit out practice last weekend. Head coach Lane Kiffin, however, confirmed the setback wasn’t serious and should return “very soon.” That sound of wind heard outside your window was every USC fan breathing a sign of relief.

Kiffin compared learning of Lee’s injury status to finding a wallet. “When you lose your wallet, you’re really upset,” he said. “But when you find your wallet, you’re really right back where you started but you feel good about it. So we were excited last night but we’re really back to where we started.”

The junior wideout and Heisman hopeful is set to be the focal point of a Southern Cal offense preparing for life after Matt Barkley. He’s expected to be a top draft pick come next year’s already top heavy draft pending he can replicate 2012’s campaign of 14 touchdowns and 1,721 yards.
