A couple years back Nintendo finally caved and unveiled the official Legend of Zelda timeline, but what about the Mario franchise? There probably isn’t an actual Mario timeline as Miyamoto himself has repeatedly said Mario storylines don’t matter, but YouTuber Scorpigator has done his level best to try to chronologically order all the games in the series, from Donkey Kong to Super Mario 3D World using what little evidence the games themselves provide and the result is a fairly solid, and completely nutty, timeline.
Pet gorillas, the birth and death of the universe itself, a mind-blowing revelation about the nature of the Paper Mario games and an explanation for Mario and Bowser being willing to get together for friendly tennis matches and kart races – this timeline has it all. For the record, here’s the timeline in writing, from beginning to end…
