GEICO has always been, uh, “innovative” when it comes to their advertising… and you can take that any way you want, for better or worse. Their new “Unskippable” campaign, however — in which the “commercial” part of the commercial is over before it even starts, and the viewer is rewarded for not closing it out — is pretty good. Each clip does kind of a riff on the Police Squad closing credits, having the subjects freeze while the world continues to go on around them.
Sure, it’s not the most original concept in the world, but I’ll forgive that because the above clip involving a family and family dog is a f*cking treasure. I don’t want to spoil what happens, but the old adage of “you don’t win friends with salad” holds truer today than ever.
