Two Students Injured In New Mexico Middle School Shooting

In a story that’s becoming all too familiar, exactly 13 months since the Newtown Massacre and only one day after we talked about the shooting at a movie screening of Lone Survivor, news agencies are reporting that there has been another school shooting; two children have been shot, and the gunmen injured, at Berrendo Middle School in Roswell, New Mexico.

From CNN:

The state Department of Public Safety said in a news release that state and local police were called to the school at 8:11 a.m. and that “there are preliminary reports of injury,”…

CBS News speculates the cause of the shooting may have been one specific victim:

Officials at Eastern New Mexico Regional Medical say two students were brought there after the shooting. It is unclear whether either of those victims was then transferred to Lubbock.

Lorena Beltran told the Albuquerque Journal her daughter, who attends the school, said a male student was shot in the face. Beltran said she first heard about the shooting after her daughter texted her.

According to reports, the gunman (allegedly a student as well) was wielding a shotgun. He has however been apprehended.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and families affected.
