We here at UPROXX, much like the rest of the internet and America, love Hannibal Buress. This weekend, Hannibal was in Las Vegas, and saw a 20-foot tall basketball hoop in the middle of a mall(?). Like many people visiting Vegas, the comedian was feeling himself and decided to take a crack at it.
Now, if you’ve already played the video, you know that he went underhanded, or “granny style,” or “Shout out to Rick Barry” style. However you want to put it, it can’t be that much easier than overhand when we’re talking about shooting it at a hoop twice the normal height. Plus, the underhanded style may look goofy, but the last NBA player to shoot it on the regular — the aforementioned Rick Barry — hit 90 percent from the stripe for his career.
If Hannibal can make it cool, does that mean Andre Drummond, DeAndre Jordan and the rest of the NBA bricklayers will finally give it a shot?
Regardless, don’t take any crap for the underhand, Hannibal. We respect it. Shout out to Rick Barry indeed.
