LeBron James Breaks Media Blackout With His Wife’s Phone To Congratulate Chris Paul

Not even his annual postseason media blackout would keep LeBron James from congratulating one of his “three very good friends” in the NBA.

After a hobbled Chris Paul sent the Los Angeles Clippers past the San Antonio Spurs with an epic Game 7 performance, The King wanted to personally salute his fellow future Hall-of-Famer’s achievement. Without a cell phone of his own due to activating “Zero-Dark 30-23,” though, James was forced to reach Paul through alternate means.

Talk about friendship.

But James only bent the rules to accommodate Paul so much. According to For The Win, he didn’t even let the Point God respond to his remarks.

“I called him from my wife’s phone. He answered the phone, he was like ‘what’s up?’ I told him don’t say nothing, you’re not allowed to reply, you’re not allowed to say anything,” James said. “I told him how amazing he was and how great he was and I hung up on him, I haven’t spoken to him since, it’s the truth.”

This isn’t the first time James has gone out of his way to laud his friend. After Paul went for 41 points and 17 assists in a win over the Portland Trail Blazers early last month, the Cavaliers superstar “reminded ’em” of his friend’s dominance on Instagram.

What happens if Cleveland and Los Angeles meet in the NBA Finals, though? Will James continue going out of his way to praise Paul? Though he’s made clear in the past that some relationships are bigger than basketball, we’re pretty sure LeBron wouldn’t be acting that way with a Larry O’Brien Trophy on the line – no matter how proud he could be of Paul’s play.
