Did Doc Rivers’ Daughter Convince DeAndre Jordan To Stay With The Clippers?

DeAndre Jordan, Callie Rivers

DeAndre Jordan’s free agency drama is over. With each new detail of the wholly unique circumstances behind it, though, comes further intrigue.

According to Dwain Price of the Forth Worth Star-Telegram, it was Callie Rivers, the 25-year-old daughter of Doc Rivers, who helped sway the star big man back to the Los Angeles Clippers more than anyone else.

Jordan, of course, agreed to terms with the Dallas Mavericks earlier this month before reneging on his commitment and signing with the Clippers.

It’s no secret that the 26-year-old’s comfort with the Clippers, the only organization for whom he’s ever played, was a deciding factor in his final free agency choice. Even prior to mayhem of the past two weeks, many in the know assumed Jordan would ultimately re-sign in Los Angeles due to his extreme loyalty to Rivers – the coach who helped mold him from an inconsistent youngster to a legitimate two-way force.

If this report is true, though, it seems another of the Rivers clan is the one whose influence loomed largest for Jordan.
