Scottie Pippen’s Response To Shaq’s Claim About An All-Time Bulls And Lakers Matchup Is Perfect

If actions speak louder than words, rings certainly count for more than baseless boasts. Well, at least it’s safe to say that Scottie Pippen subscribes to that line of thinking.

After Shaquille O’Neal claimed that a team of the greatest Los Angeles Lakers would beat one comprised of the best Chicago Bulls “by 50,” the six-time champion took to Instagram for a perfect and hardly surprising response.

Zing.

But Pippen’s quip is a bit misleading once you consider the tedium. O’Neal never said anything about he and Kobe Bryant’s early-2000s Los Angeles squads beating Pippen and Michael Jordan’s 1990s Chicago teams. The Inside the NBA analyst chose players spanning across all eras to come up with an ideal starting five for each franchise, then assessed that the purple-and-gold would beat the black-and-red running away.

Is that foolproof analysis? Hardly – there’s no such thing when it comes to these hypotheticals. It certainly bears mentioning, however, that the Lakers’ 16 total championships not only easily best the Bulls’ six, but also that Los Angeles won titles in five different decades. Chicago, meanwhile, only raised championship banners during the Jordan years.

Either way, Pippen has certainly one-upped O’Neal in the war of words. We’re anxiously awaiting the latter’s retort.
