Anthony Davis Had Every Right To Be Livid Over Draymond Green’s ‘Steal’

Draymond Green fouls Anthony Davis pretty clearly in the above clip. It’s clear, unless you think Davis’ jersey magically slipped from his shorts as he was attempting to spin past Green with the Pelicans down, 111-109, to the Warriors on Tuesday night in a game they’d eventually lose, 113-109.

Officiating being what it is, Green was awarded a steal, no foul was called, and Davis was assessed a technical foul for arguing the point that Green was grabbing him so tightly that his jersey became untucked.

The call was so bad that the NBA admitted to it in its two-minute report on the game.

While the steal itself is legal, LHH (left hand hold) shows that prior to the steal, Green (GSW) puts two hands on Davis’s (NOP) back and bunches his jersey in a hand.

It sure does show that.

“It is what it is,” Davis said in an ESPN.com story Wednesday after reviewing the game film, but before the Last Two Minute Report was released. “Can’t do nothing about it now.”

You won’t believe this but Green doesn’t think his illegal contact during an NBA game was illegal.

It’s nice to have your suspicions confirmed but it really does nothing for the Pelicans and Davis after the fact. It’d be like getting divorced and two years later your spouse admitted they were cheating on you. “I already knew that but you’ve already taken half my stuff so this confession does nothing for me.” At least Green is onto more pressing matters, like being totally bummed out that the union and the league came to an agreement on a new CBA.
