Here’s Charles Barkley Trying To Take Batting Practice Before The Phillies Game

Charles Barkley was a great basketball player. He had a Hall-of-Fame career in what was, if you ask him, the toughest era in NBA history. However, as good as he was at basketball, he has less success in other sports, such as golf. Good ol’ Chuck is as bad at golf as he is good at basketball, and his swing is hideous. Hoops and golf aren’t the only two sports, however. How is Barkley at, say, baseball? Now, thanks to a little bit of batting practice, we have some idea.

Barkley got the opportunity to take some hacks at the plate before Monday’s game between the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs. He has issues swinging a golf club, but would that extend to swinging a baseball bat? Based on this Vine, he’s at least capable of swinging a bat. Chuck is able to make soft contact, which is not nothing, considering that Barkley is a middle-aged man who isn’t even wearing batting gloves.

So, if we are ranking Barkley’s acumen at particular sports, baseball goes between basketball and golf. He can swing a bat without embarrassing himself, which, considering that he was at a Phillies game, was probably almost enough to get himself a contract with Philly to finish out the year.
