We’re finally beginning to get a clear picture of what happened on the night Draymond Green was arrested for assault, thanks to the release of the East Lansing PD’s police report of the incident. Here’s Draymond’s mug shot from that night, which is pretty classic:

According to the account of the victim, Jermaine Edmondson, a defensive back for the Michigan State football team, Green bumped into Edmonson inside the East Lansing bar Rick’s. Edmondson took exception to that, to which Green responded,”Do you know who I am?”

An argument ensued then (with some alleged choking by an unidentified party), but the assault took place the next night, outside of another East Lansing establishment, Conrad’s. Here’s Edmondson’s account of what happened next, according to the police report:

Edmonson said he was standing outside of Conrad’s when the suspect Draymond Green walked up to him. He indicated that Draymond put his hand on him and started to talk to him. At that time, Edmondson stated that he told Draymond Green to take his hands off of him. Edmondson said that they started to verbally argue and at that time, Draymond Green punched Edmondson with his right hand on the left side of his cheek.

A punch is different from what we’ve previously heard, but it’s not supported by the accounts of the officers who were nearby, all of whom say they heard a loud slapping noise. To be fair to Edmondson, it’s damn hard to tell just what hit you when you don’t see it coming, and by all accounts, Green is the one who made the altercation physical.

Also of note: When Draymond was handcuffed, he “indicat[ed] that he was sorry for slapping the subject and wanted to speak with him to make things right.”

When Green was taken back to the station, he was administered a breathalyzer test and blew a .10. He was held in jail until “completely sober.”

UPDATE:

It also seems that the man Draymond hit, Jermaine Edmondson, is now going to press charges, after originally saying he wasn’t going to. So, this probably won’t be the last we hear about Draymond’s tough night.
