ESPN continues to overhaul the way it covers the NBA, and this time big changes are coming to its NBA Draft coverage. Independent NBA draft coverage website Draft Express announced on Friday that it will cease publication because its two writers were hired to work for ESPN.

Jonathan Givony posted a brief announcement to the site on Friday entitled “The End of an Era” that gave few details but officially closed the site for good.

We’re proud to announce that Jonathan Givony and Mike Schmitz will be joining ESPN as NBA Draft analysts.

DraftExpress.com will remain on the web with all of our existing archive, but will not be publishing any new content moving forward. All articles, rankings, mock drafts and event recaps moving forward will be published on ESPN.com. – Source: https://www.draftexpress.com/article/the-end-of-an-era-6070/ ©DraftExpress

The writers from the 14-year-old website are expected to fill in the gaps after ESPN went through massive layoffs over the last few months, which included cuts to its major draft players such as Chad Ford. Givony and Schmitz now join Adrian Wojnarowski as new hires covering the NBA after an especially tumultuous period for the media company, which appears to be getting its coverage rearranged after losing many of its most notable journalists in the purge.
