Watch James Harden Drop 42 Points To Push The Rockets Past The Wizards

It’s been a streaky season for the Houston Rockets. Already, head coach Kevin McHale has been fired. But right now the Rockets are on one of their “good” runs, having won six of their last eight games — including Wednesday night’s 109-103 victory over the Washington Wizards. And James Harden is showing why he was the MVP runner-up last season and could still be the MVP this year. Against the Wizards, Harden had 42 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, putting him just shy of a triple-double.

You can check out highlights of Harden’s performance in the video above.

Harden does a lot of things well, but he deals the ball like a point guard while staying lethal as a 2. He also rebounded well defensively, limiting Washington on second-chance points. But perhaps most eye-opening was that Harden was 5-of-9 from beyond the arc with seemingly almost all of his 3-pointers coming from above the break. The frightening thing about Harden is how easy he made it look. It’s almost as though he was bored out there. Granted, the Wizards remain one of the worst defenses in the NBA, leading head coach Randy Wittman to call his team “soft,”  but the ease with which Harden scored was impressive all the same.
