Karl-Anthony Towns Is The Face Of Groundbreaking ‘2K’ App ‘MyNBA2K17’

Karl-Anthony Towns’ rise to superstardom has only just begun. Given this latest distinction, though, it seems the reigning Rookie of the Year will be a household name nationwide sooner rather than later.

NBA 2K announced on Wednesday that Towns is the cover athlete for MyNBA2K17, the new mobile application for the virtual basketball world’s top-selling and highest-rated video game franchise. The app will debut face simulation technology that directly connects users to the console version of NBA 2K17.

Towns follows in Paul George’s footsteps as the latest face of MyNBA2K. The Indiana Pacers superstar, of course, graces the cover of 2K17 one year after his first official affiliation with the gaming giant. Might the Minnesota Timberwolves big man follow the same path with 2K? Only time will tell.

But Towns certainly has the talent to be a real cover athlete, and definitely wouldn’t take that honor for granted, either.

“I’ve been a dedicated NBA 2K fan since I was young, and being selected as the face of MyNBA2K17 is an incredible milestone this early in my career,” he said. “Playing MyNBA2K and NBA2K is an essential part of my offseason and keeps me grounded during the season with all my travel. I love that I will have the opportunity to connect further with my fans through MyNBA2K17.”

The new app will be available for free in the App Store for iOS and on Google Play for Android on Sept. 8, 2016.
