The Cleveland Cavaliers seemed to be in good spirits — well, at least LeBron James seems to be in good spirit — as the team worked out together in Santa Barbara. James walked around with his phone and provided commentary as guys like Tristan Thompson, Iman Shumpert, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love put in work in the gym.
The Cavaliers begin training camp on September 27, but the team is having a mini camp this week — a mini-camp that free agent guard J.R. Smith refused to participate in. Smith opted out of his contract in July and the team hasn’t been able to come to terms on a deal with Smith and his agent since.
Even without Smith, the rest of the team appeared in the video. James called forward Mike Dunleavy “Hollow Man” after capturing Cleveland’s new wing looking at his reflection in a window. James and forward Richard Jefferson had some fun with Channing Frye, and rookie Kay Felder even made an appearance in the video.
This will be the first time in Cavaliers history that they’ll spend a season defending their title. And considering the historic way James and company won their first, expect the wine and gold to have a lot of fun over the next five weeks as they prepare for the regular season.
