LeBron James Says He ‘Could Care Less’ About His Three-Point Shooting

Nobody likes a grammar Nazi, but being that it’s my other occupation, I feel compelled to start this post with a self-satisfied “well, actually…”

To be fair, this is one of those idioms that a lot of folks get wrong. I’m assuming what LeBron James actually meant was that he “couldn’t care less” about his three-point shooting when he was asked about it after the Cavs’ demoralizing buzzer-beating loss to the Boston Celtics on Friday night. Via Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com:

“I could care less about what I shoot from the 3,” James snapped. “It’s not my game.”

LeBron’s shooting woes have been a sore point for most of the season, starting in December when John Schuhmann of NBA.com revealed that the four-time MVP had been one of the worst volume shooters in the NBA up to that point. He recovered his stroke from the field admirably in the weeks that followed, but his efficiency from downtown has remained in the cellar (26.7 percent from long-range for the season).

Going into Saturday night’s match-up against the Pelicans, LeBron had shot 0-of-18 over his last six games, but he finally broke the spell and shot 2-of-5 from behind-the-arc against New Orleans en route to a much-needed win.
