The ‘It Me’ Podcast: We Might Be Still Underrating LeBron James Somehow

The NBA Playoffs roll on, so we’re just going to go with the flow and keep talking about them. We’re down to four teams, and according to CBS, those four teams are the Thunder, Warriors, Cavs, and Other. And it really doesn’t look like Other has much of a shot down 2-0 without an answer in sight.

This week we were lucky to be joined by ESPN’s Pablo Torre, a veteran of Around The Horn, a guest host on Pardon The Interruption, Highly Questionable, and The Sports Reporters, and a senior writer for ESPN The Magazine. Torre, a Harvard man, brings smart criticism and an objective eye to sports subjects and often sees things differently than the general stream. Plus he’s engaging and fun on Twitter, which is always nice.

This week we discussed all sorts of things, including:

  • Is there anything worthwhile about the Cavs-Raptors series?
  • Are we actually underrating LeBron James?
  • What’s going to happen when LeBron is out of the league? Where does all that energy go?
  • The idea that fans naturally object to NERDS coming in and ruining their sports for some reason
  • What is it like transitioning from being a capital W “Writer” to doing consistent TV work?
  • Is the MEDIA a shadow organization hell bent on running the world?
  • Stories from Pablo’s time on Around The Horn

As always, comments and tweets are welcome. Subscribe to us on iTunes, too! You can find Robby at (@rkalland) and Martin at (@martinrickman), and Pablo is at (@PabloTorre). Football is great and so are friends, but football (and every other sport) is always better with friends.

Special thanks to the band Annabel for our intro and outro music. They’re really good. You should buy their music at their website or perhaps see them play a show some time.
