Steph Curry Says He ‘Probably’ Won’t Play In Game 3 Unless His Foot Injury Improves

The Warriors got good news about Steph Curry on Tuesday after an MRI revealed that there was no structural damage on the ankle he tweaked during Game 1 against the Houston Rockets in their opening-round series. There’s been a lot of speculation as to whether he would be able to return for Game 3 on Thursday, but now that’s looking more and more uncertain.

It makes sense that both Curry and the Warriors would err on the side of caution moving forward given his history of ankle problems that nearly derailed his career during his first few seasons in the league. It’s a decision that should be made easier after Golden State was able to rather decisively take Game 2 against the Rockets on Monday without Curry in the lineup and seize a 2-0 series lead.

Houston thus far hasn’t demonstrated that they can pose a legitimate threat, so the Warriors could likely sit Curry for the remainder of the series if they’re feeling overly reluctant to expose their reigning MVP to any further damage. Curry, however, will likely be eager to suit up and play as soon as he’s feeling up to the task.

The Warriors and Rockets will tip off Game 3 back in Houston on Thursday night at 9:30 ET on TNT.
