Yesterday, we watched Bradley Cooper seemingly drop a huge spoiler for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, suggesting that Thanos is Star-Lord’s mysterious dad. We wondered at the time if he was getting two characters confused and misinterpreting one’s parentage. Director James Gunn has weighed in on Twitter, and it appears Cooper was, indeed, somehow confusing Star-Lord with Ronan and assuming he was related to Thanos because of their blue-ish skin (THAT’S RACIST).

As Gunn points out, Cooper hadn’t read the script yet when he gave that interview:

It’s good to hear Bradley Cooper didn’t spoil the movie for us and spoil his relationship with Marvel, as well. You just can’t unwash that cotton candy.
