David Lee Miller, known more for writing / directing /producing video games than feature films, is set to make an animated film adaption of Harlan Ellison’s short story, “A Boy and His Dog”.  QuietEarth has the exclusive:

The film is currently in pre-production with a tentative 2012 release date, but it’s official. We’ve spoken with Miller and he seems pretty intent on making the project so let’s all hope we get more from him soon.

A Boy And His Dog was previously adapted as a feature film in 1975 (crazy trailer below).  The R-rated post-apocalyptic film starred Don Johnson and a talking dog trying to survive and get laid in the post-World War IV wasteland of 2024.  It looks like half the movie is Don Johnson trying to get his sarcastic, talking dog to help him find sluts.  And the other half is gunfire.  How is David Lee Miller possibly going to top that?  Will the talking dog skateboard and wear sunglasses?
