Joseph Kosinski, the director of Disney’s Tron Legacy, recently spoke to MTV about the film:

Our approach is not like Avatar, which I think is 3D from the first shot to the last. Ours is sort of a Wizard Of Oz approach. Ninety-eight percent of the 3D is in the world of Tron. The 3D really starts once we get into the Tron world. [MTV via io9]

He went on to say that the focus would be more on the story than the effects.  (Hear that, Avatar?  That’s a burn.) He also said the Comic Con teaser video (the one with lightcycle racing and two Jeff Bridgeseseses) isn’t in the film.  Wait, are there still going to be two The Dudes in this? If there isn’t a scene with two The Dudes playing with glowstick bikes set to “Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)” then this isn’t the movie I imagined at all.  And I like my movie better.
