Liam Neeson Says He’ll Quit Action Movies In Two Years

Since the 2008 action film Taken, there have been a whole slew of movies featuring Liam Neeson holding a pistol. While doing press for his new movie Run All Night, Neeson told the Guardian that he’s preparing to quit the action movie genre in two years.

“Maybe two more years. If God spares me and I’m healthy,” he said in a US interview. “But after that, I’ll stop [the action] I think.”

Neeson made it clear that he’s not knocking the action movie genre one bit:

“I’m in a very, career-wise, great place,” Neeson said of the movies. “The success of certainly the Taken films, Hollywood seems to see me in a different light. I get sent quite a few action-oriented scripts, which is great. I’m not knocking it. It’s very flattering. But there is a limit, of course.”

Last year, the actor made a similar statement around the time Taken 3 hit theaters:

If I feel audiences saying, ‘Come on, he’s 62, enough is enough,’ I’m very sensitive to that and if I pick up that vibe it will all stop. And I’ll start playing dads or grandfathers. But I keep myself pretty fit and my knees are still great. And it’s fun.” (Via)

I’m completely fine with the actor hanging up his pistol by the time he’s 65 years old. But a 65-year-old curmudgeonly Neeson blowing away evil-doers also sounds pretty cool.

After all, Liam Neesons is my sh*t.
