‘Room’ Should Be The Movie That Turns Brie Larson Into A Huge Star

Our collective love of Brie Larson isn’t exactly a secret. But with the exception of the marvelous Short Term 12, she’s too often played the supporting character, the crush in 21 Jump Street or the sister in Trainwreck. That should soon change, though, because Larson is set to star in the big-budget Kong: Skull Island and she has what looks like an award-worthy role in Room.

Based on Emma Donoghue’s best-selling novel of the same name, Larson plays a woman who’s held captive in a room for years with her son (played by Jacob Tremblay), who the movie really hinges on. Child actors are often the worst, and if he’s even the least bit unconvincing, Room could fall apart. Judging by the trailer, though, Tremblay could be the exception to the rule.

Having Brie Larson as your co-star certainly doesn’t hurt. Lucky kid.
