‘The Crow’ Remake Still Flies With Or Without A Star (Or Money To Pay One)

You’ve got to tip your hat and admire producer Edward Pressman, who is spearheading The Crow remake. The project has felt its fair share of pre-production turmoil (which is being awfully kind). At this moment, the remake has no star in the role that the late Brandon Lee portrayed in the 1994 film. Jack Huston (best known as playing the tragic Richard Harrow on Boardwalk Empire) was slated to play The Crow, but he dropped out in June, and no one was been hired to replace Huston as of yet.

Pressman insists that this remake will be shot in 2016, but the prospect is a baffling one. Relativity Media, the company who’s going to finance the movie, went bankrupt earlier this year. This is not good news for a remake of a beloved 1990s cult flick. Pressman maintains a determined focused on the project while acknowledging the financial concerns that plague Relativity:

“Despite Relativity’s problems, we’re going ahead now. Relativity is putting up a good amount of money to do that. They are putting up significant holding money. They are moving ahead in a constructive and positive way and Ryan Kavanaugh seems totally committed to this theme.”

Director Corin Hardy is still currently attached the project. Now the search begins anew for someone to portray The Crow before filming starts next year.
