Chris Pine Is Greatly Enjoying Being Wonder Woman’s Boyfriend

Chris Pine is currently promoting The Finest Hours, and that means, of course, he’s on the interview circuit, where everybody is asking him about Wonder Woman instead. But he’s taking it with grace, and revealing a few small tidbits about the movie in the interim.

First off, bad news, cheese fans: Pine looks utterly blank when Kimmel asks him about Wonder Woman’s invisible plane. Unsurprisingly, a movie set during the first World War might just be setting aside the odder trappings of Wondy’s past. He was, however, noticeably silent about whether the Lasso of Truth is present, so not everything is out the door.

Aside from that, Pine seems to really enjoy being the damsel for once. He cheerfully admits Steve Trevor has no superpowers and calls himself a “stay-at-home dad” to Wondy’s superheroine. He also notes that it’s a different movie from the usual action hero roles he has to play:

I think what’s really neat about it is that with the Thors and Captain Kirks, with men at the helm, it’s this revenge cycle thing. What I think is really lovely about having a woman at the helm of something like this is… there’s a great deal more compassion and love at the center of the story.

Which, honestly, is good to hear. The best Wonder Woman stories are about how there’s strength in more than just punching people. She’s so kindhearted, she’ll be polite to Hades while kicking his butt. But, of course, she kicks Hades’ butt anyway. Come on, we’re making an action movie here!
