The Trailer For Christopher Nolan’s World War II Epic ‘Dunkirk’ Looks Incredible

Warner Bros. Pictures just released the first full-length trailer for Dunkirk, Christopher Nolan’s first movie since 2014’s Interstellar. The World War II epic stars Aneurin Barnard, Kenneth Branagh, James D’Arcy, Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Oscar winner Mark Rylance, and teen heartthrob (and The Guy With the Hair from One Direction) Harry Styles, and according to the official plot summary, “Dunkirk opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces. Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in.”

I’m sure Batman will save them, right?

Nolan has always been a secretive director, and that continues with Dunkirk. Little is known about the action-packed, expensive-looking film — besides, y’know, what’s on the Wikipedia page for the Battle of Dunkirk — although anyone who sees Rogue One: A Star Wars Story this weekend (everyone) at a 70mm IMAX location (oh…) will be treated to seven minutes of footage. That’s not many theaters, but IMAX is the preferred way to look at Tom Hardy, and the optimal viewing experience for taking in Nolan and cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema’s (he also worked on Interstellar) massive visuals.

Meanwhile, the One Direction fans are going crazy.
