Jared Leto did some “bad, bad things” on the set of Suicide Squad, including petrifying Margot Robbie, making director David Ayer hire a therapist, and sending his co-stars a live rat and dead hog. He also thinks he should be locked away “in a box after this movie comes out,” and never officially introduced himself to Will Smith. Is Leto a great method actor, or just an insane person? We’ll have to wait until August 5, when Suicide Squad is released in theaters, to know the answer, but I’m leaning toward the latter…
Leto just told me he also sent everyone… used condoms and anal beads! “I did a lot of things to create a dynamic to create an element of surprise, a spontaneity and to really break down any kind of walls that may be there,” the Oscar winner told me while promoting the movie at CinemaCon in Las Vegas. “The Joker is somebody who doesn’t really respect things like personal space or boundaries.”

The only thing surprising about any of that is “Oscar winner.” Imagine if his Joker gets Academy Award recognition (hey, it worked for Heath Ledger). Leto will wear a straight jacket to the ceremony and mail The Founder star and former Batman Michael Keaton a note written in blood and snot saying, “I’LL KILL U NEXT.” This is why you never go full method.
