Someone Started A Petition To Change The National Anthem To ‘Party In The USA’

Thanks to the White House’s petition website, We the People, any average Tom, Dick or Daenerys can just up and become the driving force behind a cause, as long as they have a mere 100,000 signatures. Once that number is reached, any petition – be it to “Rename the 10+ Military Bases After Confederate Generals” or “Shutdown petitions.whitehouse.gov” – must be reviewed by the current administration and responded to in a swift and appropriate manner.

While some of the active petitions have reached the 100K mark and will have to be considered, one relatively new idea is sitting at a paltry 496 signatures and could really use some help. That petition? To make Miley Cyrus’ “Party in the USA” the new National Anthem of the United States of America.

Party in the USA

Yes, this is truly one of the key issues regarding firearms and human rights.

According to Mashable, “Party in the USA” is currently the 23rd most-watched video in YouTube history with 342 million views and counting; however, if I’m the President of the United States, I wouldn’t exactly use that as my argument in case this sucker actually hits 100,000.

It’s not that I’m actually worried that Barack Obama would consider such a ridiculous idea, but if you want to gauge the worthiness of a song to become our national anthem based on YouTube views, then we’re going to have an army of Justin Bieber fans waging the next Civil War based on the fact that “Baby” is No. 2 all-time with 871 million view. Apologies, of course, to Psy, whose “Gangnam Style” is No. 1 with 1.7 billion views, but that song is too worn out to be considered.
