Queens Of The Stone Age Released A New Video For ‘Smooth Sailing’

Smooth Sailing

Queens of the Stone Age released their most recent album, … Like Clockwork, on June 3 last year, but the band has been touring like crazy in the meantime with a loaded list of dates that has Josh Homme and Co. on the road through October. Somehow, during all of the touring and even raising hell over the Grammys, Homme was able to team up with director Hiro Murai to make a music video for the single, “Smooth Sailing,” which is the favorite … Like Clockwork track of the very handsome blogger responsible for this post.

As for the theme of the video, Homme and some Japanese businessmen embark on a hell of an evening that the Matador Records Blog describes as:

The definitely NSFW “Smooth Sailing” follows QOTSA’s Joshua Homme and cohorts on a delirious adventure that blossoms from garden variety drunken shenanigans to possibly the most nightmarishly accurate live action interpretation of a QOTSA song to date, lending a new meaning to 3-D musical cinema—that is, it turns the 3 D’s into Drinking, Drugs and Death.

The video is definitely as intense as the song is good, so enjoy and please don’t try this at home.

Not that I’d ever wish for the Queens to stop touring, but the even better news is that Homme has previously said that when this tour is over, the band will hit the studio to record another album. October can’t get here soon enough.
