YouTube user Mylo the Cat has made it their business to mashup old school rap and The Muppets, with almost uniformly excellent results. This is partially because some real work is put into matching up lip movements with the lyrics, and also because there remains some real joy in watching a Muppet rapping. HitFix reports on the latest of these creations, which brings the outer space weirdness of Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s “Shimmy Shimmy Ya.”
Dropping the lyrics first delivered by Big Baby Jesus is Dr. Teeth, leader of the Muppets’ in house band, Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. Dr. Teeth plays the piano, which works well given the piano hook used in this song, and the good doctor’s gold tooth has never felt more fitting. It’s a great song from the most eccentric member of the Wu-Tang Clan, and this video brings it to life in a delightful way. Now, pass Dr. Teeth the mike so he can take it away.
