This Sunday, the 32nd Annual MTV Video Music Awards will be held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, keeping up with the long tradition of keeping censors of their toes. Superstar Miley Cyrus announced her hosting duties via Instagram, as the kids do these days, and promises something “psychedelic.” While we’ve already predicted a few of the things our host may say or do, she’s already got the Parents Television Council up in arms.
As far as the awards go, digital music savior Taylor Swift leads with a total of 10 nominations, including Video of the Year, Best Collaboration, Female Video of the Year, and Best Pop Video. Although, if you count Kendrick Lamar’s four nominations for his video “Alright,” then tally up the nine nominations for his work with both Taylor Swift and Flying Lotus, he ends up the front-runner with a total of 13. Kanye West is also set to receive the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award, the highest honor the VMAs can bestow.
Here’s a rundown of everything else you should know that’s set to go down this Sunday. The awards are on MTV at 9 p.m. EST.
