Dave Grohl Is Reuniting Yet *Another* Band To Add To His Lengthy Resume

Dave Grohl has done great work with Foo Fighters and Nirvana, two bands which have made him a modern rock icon, the kind who can design a crazy throne to sit in so he can tour with a broken leg. Aside from those two acts, however, he’s been a guy who has dropped in here and there to help out other bands, like Probot, Teenage Time Killers, and plenty more. That’s the case with the band Bl’ast, who got Grohl to drum for them on their new EP For Those Who’ve Graced the Fire!

This EP is notable, although it is only two songs long, because this is the first release by the hardcore band in over 20 years. Original band members Cliff Dinsmore and Mike Neider were part of this project, but fellow original members Joey Castillo and Nick Oliveri are busy at the moment as members of Queens of the Stone Age, another band that Grohl has performed with. As such, Grohl stepped in on drums, with Black Flag bassist Chuck Dukowski joining too. Grohl also mixed and recorded the album at his personal recording studio.

The original members of Bl’ast are working on a new album together, their first since 1989’s Take the Manic Ride. Previously, Grohl re-mastered their 1987 album It’s in My Blood, so clearly he is a fan of the band, and was probably more than happy to help them out on the drums. Yet another good guy act from Dave Grohl.
