Carly Rae Jepsen And Bleachers Are A Synth-Pop Dream Team On ‘Hate That You Know Me’

At some point in time, Carly Rae Jepsen and Jack Antonoff met up. We’re going to guess it was at a Criminally Underrated Pop Musician Coffee Klatch. But either way, the Emotion singer and the man behind Bleachers produced — what else — an excellent slice of synth-fueled pop. “Hate That You Know Me” is the latest taste of Bleacher’s upcoming album Gone Now which is due out on June 2.

Antonoff explained the creation of “Hate That You Know Me” in an interview on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio show.

“I was in the studio and Julia [Michaels] came by and we were just kind of hanging out, it wasn’t even a planned thing which I think sometimes in the best way to work, and we were messing around and I had this concept for a very long time I wanted to write a song about,” he said. “It’s actually a very devastating concept which is when you love someone you can f**king hate it because you can’t escape yourself…It’s like I want people somewhere in the world dancing and somewhere in the world weeping in bed at the same time.”
