The world is still in shock over the death of David Bowie, who died of cancer at the age of 69 this weekend. However, there is one important person who still has not heard the sad news: his first wife.

You see, the former Angie Bowie — who was married to David from 1970 to 1980 — is currently on location filming the UK version of Celebrity Big Brother. As a result, the news still hasn’t gotten to her yet, although it presumably will soon:

“Following the very sad news of David Bowie’s death this morning, we can confirm that Angie Bowie will be informed off-camera today at the earliest opportunity,” a spokesman for Channel 5, the UK station that broadcasts Big Brother, told the Telegraph in London. “We will update further once this has taken place.”

Contestants on the show — which this season includes a lineup of celebrities heretofore unknown stateside, with the exception of David Gest and Kim Kardashian pal Jonathan Cheban — are only allowed contact with the outside world in cases of family emergencies and deaths.

If Angie Bowie’s name rings a bell to you, it’s likely because she was almost certainly the subject of the classic Rolling Stones song, “Angie.” One can only assume that when she hears the news, she’ll be just as broken up as the rest of us are.
