Harry Styles’ New Song ‘Sweet Creature’ Is An Acoustic Reminder That Love Is Tough But Worth It

So far, we’ve heard a couple songs from One Direction heartthrob Harry Styles’ upcoming self-titled solo album. He performed both “Sign Of The Times” and “Ever Since New York” when he was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live in April, and it turns out we’ll get to hear at least one more song before the album drops on May 12th. The third advance track is “Sweet Creature,” and it debuted today at noon EST on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1 Radio show.

The song goes more acoustic than his other two solo cuts did; In fact, the only real feature of the tune aside from unplugged guitar and Styles’ vocals is a reverb-heavy “ooh ooh” vocal breakdown that wouldn’t upset Fleet Foxes fans. Lyrically, the track deals with the difficulties of love and reminds us that despite its challenges, relationships are fulfilling and worthwhile. The chorus captures that message most vividly:

“Sweet creature, sweet creature,
Wherever I go, you’ll bring me home,
Sweet creature, sweet creature,
When I run out of road, you’ll bring me home.”

If the new song doesn’t quench your Styles thirst, The Late Late Show With James Corden ought to soon do the trick, since Styles is set to guest on the program for the entire week beginning May 15th, just a few days after his album is released.
