Please Allow Miley Cyrus To Explain How Taking Her Clothes Off Makes People Take Her Seriously

On Sunday evening, Miley Cyrus will take the stage as MTV’s VMA host. This much anticipated event takes place two years after the scene of the twerk heard ’round the world. Miley is an expert at self-promotion and has a pretty efficient team surrounding all things Miley. If her past VMA drama is any indication, we’ll be in for a wild ride.

In the run up to the messiest music awards show of the year, Miley spoke with Elle UK about how she’s not all flash and cash. She has a message inside, which largely revolves around the Happy Hippy Foundation, where Miley works with homeless youth. Last year, Miley enlisted a man named Jesse (who may not have been homeless after all) to accept her Video Of The Year award for “Wrecking Ball.” Miley is very serious about her platform, and she says her chronic nudity only helps spread the message:

“If you get your t*ts out, and they are all looking, then you can use that space to say something and get them to listen.”

Well, if that’s her plan, one can only hope Miley is correct. Will people listen to what Miley is saying when she shows up with pasties on during a visit to visit Jimmy Kimmel? Miley also adds that she decided to advocate for homeless youth after being “kind of embarrassed that I got paid money to shake my ass in a teddy bear costume.” She knows pop stars earn a ridiculous amount of cash “while people live on the streets.” Then Miley drops the semi-bombshell that she’s both pansexual and single, so (once again) her message disappears behind sensationalism.
