Bryson Tiller Dropped ‘True To Self’ A Whole Month Early And His Fans Are Ecstatic

Bryson Tiller spent most of 2015 and 2016 making the leap from Soundclound anonymity to a multiplatinum star, then suddenly he vanished just as quickly as he arrived. It took a few months, but when the Louisville native returned, he had a pack of new songs in tow and an announcement: his sophomore album True To Self would arrive June 23rd. Well, Tiller had something else in mind, clearly, as he suddenly and without warning dropped True To Self a whole month early along with a video to “Somethin Tells Me.”

Even the best laid plans go awry, but much like Wale before him, this was probably always Tiller’s plan to begin with. While Bryson’s crop of songs from earlier this month included “Get Mine” with Young Thug, the song is nowhere to be found on True To Self and the 19-track LP is completely devoid of features. Instead, Tiller chose to do his work alone, further diving into the syrupy and sultry sound that made him an overnight star and pushed singles like “Don’t” and “Exchange” onto Top 40 radio and Trapsoul to platinum.
