Dwyane Wade’s #SoGoneChallenge Is So Bad That It’s Good

The best thing about Chance The Rapper issuing The #SoGoneChallenge is the great look it’s giving underappreciated talent Monica. The fun challenge employs the R&B singer’s 2003 hit “So Gone” and asks participants to kick their best freestyle to the Missy Elliott-crafted beat. Pretty simple stuff, unless you’re not really a rapper. That’s when things get a little difficult.

Wednesday night Dwyane Wade decided to take part of the challenge and proved he made the right decision by sticking with the old peach basket catch-it-up because he really is awful at rapping. So awful that he’s great, actually. He even threw in a relevant Miss Cleo reference at the end of his minute-long rap for all you pop culture nerds.

’03 it was my dreeeam
’06 it was my teeeam
I grew up watching mom be a fiend
She got so, so lean
Now it’s summer of ’16
Ya boy is getting lean
Ya boy is getting mean
Lord knows I am a fiend
But I‘m a fiend for life
Living is all I care about, I live twice
But my favorite number is three
Not one or two, but three
CP3, A.I. and me
That’s a cold ass trio
I wear my hat like Ne-Yo
First black prez, B.O.
Rest in peace, Miss Cleo

Fire, TBH.

And here’s the original “So Gone” for anyone who wasn’t watching 106 & Park in the early 2000’s.
